lunch and deep thoughts

So. Lightly sauteed an ear of corn & three carrots in olive oil with a lot of basil and a clove of garlic; easily a perfect summer salad upon throwing in a large handful of blanched green beans and a splash of apple cider vinegar. Eaten with cool, salty feta or some salted & peppered ricotta or just plain, it was buttery and sweet and refreshing.

I will be stocking up on corn, then, as well as peaches and all the sweet golden things summer has to offer.

On the mysteries of ordinary & grand life, for those wistful summer evenings:

I beg you…to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don’t search for the answers, which could not be given you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually,  without ever noticing it, live your way into the answer…”
