Lots of big plates of pad see-ew at our local Thai place, around the corner from my work: with all the Chinese broccoli, fried tofu, and loosely scrambled egg you could dream of, in that pleasantly sweet-savory sauce, and those big flat noodles slipping through the chopsticks. A perfect dish.
Or the tacos from a stand in the parking lot of a convenience store a block away from home: perfect potato & egg tacos with lightly fried flour tortillas and incendiary salsa.
And then at home there’s always roasted sweet potatoes with dilled yogurt sauce.
It’s kind of thrilling how perfect these things all are. And heartening.
