Went to Franklin, yesterday; waited in line for two hours before tucking into some damn fine brisket, melting sausage, and crisp coleslaw with caraway seeds. And spicy pinto beans; yum.

And today I went to the farmer’s market: radishes, kohlrabi, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, watermelon, arugula. We are set for a week of tomato sandwiches, among other glories.

I made a salad for lunch with arugula, cucumber, half an avocado, and leftover pinto beans, sweet onion slivers, and coleslaw from Franklin; dressed with a lot of lemon and a little bit of olive oil, it was wonderful. With a slice of sharp cheddar and some rye, it was also satisfying.

Later tonight, there’ll be a leftover brisket & sausage sandwich, with mustard, tomato, arugula, pickles, mayonnaise. Can’t wait.
